Recreational activities at ISD are planned for pleasure and as creative outlets for students during leisure time. Some of the activities provide opportunities for students to develop leadership skills which positively affect their self-esteem and increase their ability to work together cooperatively. Students also learn the value of service to school and the community. Some age-appropriate activities they may choose to participate in are:
Cub Scouts, Brownies, Girl Scouts, Dance/Drama Club, Jr. National Association of the Deaf, Junior High Teen Center, High School Teen Center, Junior-Senior Prom, Reading is Fundamental, Leadership Experience Opportunities, Nestle USA EPCOT Science Program, Hydroponics, Public Speaking, Student Body Government, ABC Reading, arts and crafts, field trips (Six Flags, St. Louis Zoo, St. Louis baseball/hockey games), miniature golf, table and board games, camping, outdoor education programs, seasonal parties, community activities, Book-It Reading Program, and sibling sign class.
